LibraCare: Alkyl Polyglucosides (APGs)

The LibraCare Alkyl Polyglucoside (APG) series are a range of non-ionic surfactants derived from renewable raw materials – fatty alcohols from coconut and palm kernel oils, and glucose from corn. As a consequence, these products are very mild, low in toxicity and readily biodegradable. The synergistic effects of LibraCare Alkyl Polyglucosides series with other commonly used surfactants yield a performance improvement that can be the basis for a reduction of surfactant content whilst maintaining performance level. APG’s can have active content in formulations of 50%-75%.

Why use Libracare Alkyl Polyglucosides?

APGs are commonly used in chemical formulations due to their good compatibility with other surfactants. This good compatibility results in synergistic effects between the surfactants such as improved mildness in formulations. As a compatible surfactant they are stable and soluble in high caustic systems, as well as possessing strong hydrotropic and solubilising properties, finding applications in formulations with high concentrations of surfactants at both high and low pH.

They are common in liquid solutions due to their strong wetting, dispersing and surface activity that can be valuable in products for body wash or surface cleaning. They are also used to boost and produce a rich and stable foam in products. In other industries, our APGs can be used as high alkaline scouring agents (cleaners) for textiles, as well as soil wetting agents for systematic adjuvants in agrochemicals.
