Libraquat PQ7: Polyquaternium-7 Cationic Surfactant

Libraquat PQ7 by Libra Speciality Chemicals, is a Polycationic copolymer of acrylamide and diallyldimethylammonium chloride. Polyquaterium is the International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients designation for several polycationic polymers that are used in the personal care industry. Libraquat is a cationic water soluble copolymer with excellent cleaning abilities within personal care (specifically, hair care). Our PQ7 is a very effective polymer within its applications and Libra’s technical department is able to ensure the highest quality of product that matches specifications. The relatively small amounts of PQ7 required within formulation make this a highly efficient and cost effective product.

Libra’s Polyquaternium-7 is a popular ingredient in personal care and cleaning formulations. The product is perfect for use in spray on, leave in hair conditioners and is an excellent detangler and provides slip for easier wet-combing. In addition, it will add softness and shine to dry hair.

Due to the naturally anionic characteristics of hair the positive charges within PQ7 associate with this negative charge associate to the hair strands the result is smooth hair with a glossy finish by drying as a thin film over the hair strands. This thin invisible film allows hair to hold its shape for longer. PQ7 is often found in formulations for cosmetic hair care and maintenance, body cleaners and more.
