As a socially responsible business we are continually developing and growing our commitments to sustainable practices. An example of this being our Librateric Cocamidropropyl Betaine (CAB-LS) and Laurylmidropropyl Betaine (DAB-LS) surfactants.
This product series is created from materials, production and processes that are compliant with Ecocert, UK & EU REACH certifications alongside our ISO 14001:2015 accreditation for environmental management.
Our low salt betaines are readily biodegradable and sourced from 78.5% natural materials. Material sourcing and production is free from animal testing and cruelty throughout. This results in a product series that can become compliant with vegan, kosher and halal lifestyles in suitable formulations. The series is also available as RSPO Certified Mass Balance.
What is Mass Balance?
Libra have been a member of ‘The Round table of Sustainable Palm Oil’ (RSPO) since 2014. The group was formed in 2004 to generate awareness of unethical palm oil practices in corporations and to help ensure more sustainability is used for Palm Oil trade, procurement and across the entire supply chain.
The aim of this sustainable palm oil option is to reduce the damaging effects of palm oil on the environment and to accommodate consumer demands. When purchasing raw materials within our supply chain we always look for sustainable, eco-friendly and naturally derived materials to use within our products. With our commitment to change we hope to make an impact towards generating a more sustainable future.
By being part of the RSPO, Libra help prevent the damage of unsustainable palm oil, such as:
Our RSPO Mass Balance products have been sourced by certified plantations, which meet RSPO Mass Balance certified sustainable standards for trade and supply.
Our membership guarantees that sustainability standards have been met for Libra’s use of palm kernel oil-based materials to manufacture our Mass Balance low salt betaines, as well as our extended range of cocamidopropyl betaines, coco alkanolamides and amide oxides.
Libra maintain our commitment to improving sustainable practices and material sourcing. A part of this includes accurate and transparent records of palm-oil procurement and product-manufacturing volumes and, submitting an Annual Communication of Progress report to the RSPO at the end of every year.
